PSYCHOTHERAPHY
I am an engaged psychotherapist who provides creative solutions to common emotional and behavioral problems.
The counseling relationship from my perspective is a partnership between psychotherapist and client requiring resolve, flexibility and commitment from both parties. The relationship is reinforced by a contract and treatment plan which incorporates a client’s objectives or problems.
For some clients, a change of lifestyle is necessary to effect change and in others a change in habits, perspective or behaviors. Clients typically spend one hour weekly in session and 6 days and 23 hours on his or her own. As a result, homework is assigned to reinforce concepts and strategies learned in session.
Assignments may include tailored reading suggestions and practicing techniques. The more dedicated a client is with homework and practice outside of session, the sooner his or her goals are reached and the quicker he or she feels better.
I utilize the following treatment modalites: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Self-psychology, Bowen Family Systems Theory, Supportive Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and Neurolinguistic Programming.
I provide counseling for families, couples and individuals including adults, teenagers and children. Click on Adults, Couples, Family and Teens 16+ to read about some of my clients' success stories.
I provide a safe, supportive and confidential space for clients to be transparent, disclose sensitive material and receive respect, empathy, a non-judgmental attitude and an objective perspective.
